You have been selected by lottery to compete as an athlete in the Ford Ironman World Championship in beautiful Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on October 13, 2007!  Crossing the finish line on Ali’i Drive is sure to provide you with many fond memories.  Please read the below details to ensure your registration to compete in Kona is confirmed.

 

Application:

  • Upon receipt of this letter your application will be available on-line at [redacted]
  • Once your application becomes available on-line, you have 15 days to complete your application or you will forfeit your slot in the 2007 Ford Ironman World Championship. 
  • You will register as a “Category 2” athlete.
  • You will be asked to enter your Lottery Winner Password; it should be entered exactly as it appears on the email you received (i.e. IM-XXXX).

 

USA Triathlon:

  • The 2007 Ford Ironman World Championship will be a USA Triathlon sanctioned event.
  • It is required that all athletes are either a one-day or annual member of USA Triathlon.  You will be required to show proof of your annual USA Triathlon membership or purchase a one-day membership at registration in Kona.
  • For additional information on USA Triathlon, please visit the website at www.usatriathlon.org.

 

Race Entry Fees:

  • It is required that you pay your remaining entry fee of US $440.00 at the time of registration.
  • All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing.  If your letter of withdrawal is received on or before August 31, 2007, USD $210.00 of your entry fee will be refunded. Without exception, no refunds will be issued for requests made after August 31, 2007.

 

Ironman Slot Validation:

  • You are required to complete a 70.3 distance event (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run), or greater, to validate your slot.  Please submit race results to the Kona race office within 15 days after the event.  Athletes that have not provided results showing validation of their slot by August 31, 2007 will be dropped from the race.

 

The 2007 Ironman Athlete Information Guide, which contains rules, regulations and other race details, will be available on-line at www.ironman.com after August 1, 2007.
